Where do the stories come from?

My Mother had stories she would share with me about her travels all over the world with her second husband. They were always amazing tales of exciting and magical adventures.

There was one particular piece of clothing in her wardrobe purchased from Paris that has become a lasting memory. I remember thinking it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. When she let me put it on to play in (I was about 7 or 8) I felt like a princess.

It was soft pink with miles of ruffles. It was full and long with a slender long pink ribbon at the waist. A little girl could easily get lost in it and I often did - lost in my imagination.

I recall playing in that dress often. Every time I’d put it on my mother would tell me another story about her travels in Europe.

When I saw the accompanying little girls dress for our Forgotten Age sessions a flood of memories rushed through my mind.

With this blog post you will see an image of the negligee as I so vividly recall it and you will see the dress I found for our little girls wardrobe.

It gives me chills when I see the similarities.

As I was selecting the image to use for this post, tears flowed down my cheeks when I ran across the one with the basket of kittens. It took my breath away for a moment. I recall sitting on the floor petting the white poodle puppies that my mother’s poodles had just birthed.

Can you imagine? Fifty-seven years after a wonderful memory was sealed in my mind - I was able to unknowingly recreated that moment with a client.

Every session reveals some sort of a story. I don’t always know how it happens. But it does.

I wonder what your little girls story will be. Let’s find out together. Ask about my model special when we add one of these sweet additions to the wardrobe.

Don’t wait. It’s later than you think.

Parisian negligee

This looks very much like the negligee that I recall as a child that my mother often let me play dress up in. Fifty- seven years later it reappears in a new form in our Forgotten Ages portrait sessions.

Kittens or puppies

For me it was puppies as a child - for my client it was kittens. Nonetheless it is a memory captured through Forgotten Age sessions for this little girl.

Oceans of ruffles and memories

The resemblance to me is a little uncanny. Todays' version of that beautiful gown I wore so many years ago now being used in The Forgotten Age sessions.
