Synopsis:

Capture in RAW

Edit in Capture One

Export into Proshots for viewing by clients

Convert to tiff in Capture One

Retouch / crop in Photoshop

Upload or burn CD for lab

 

Creating Folders on the Hard drive to Store Images In

  1. Complete photographing a session
  2. Stamp folder (stamp#1)
  3. Capture One

    Export Previews

    Burn Raw CD

    Pro Shots/Show/ Set up

  4. Place card in card reader
  5. Open the drive that you store your images on (we store ours on the G: drive and we only store images on that drive. Nothing else.)
  6. Create client folder ex: Smith 2214
  7. Double click to open folder
  8. Open Windows Explorer
  9. Click on drive that the card reader is on. (Ours in on the H: drive)
  10. Open each number
  11. Ctrl A to select all files –Drag them into the G: file client folder to transfer them from the card to the hard drive.
  12. Close everything
  13. Close card reader to remove card

 

Editing in Capture One

  1. Expand G: drive
  2. Click on client file to open
  3. Do an initial edit / Use arrow keys to move up and down
  4. Use delete key to delete an image to trash
  5. Do exposure corrections (exposure tab), color temp correction (gray balance tab) and focus corrections (focus tab)
  6. Go through one last time to edit. Placing red check on each image to be exported into ProShots
  7. Collection /Image Tagging/Select all tagged (Alt T)/Collection / Export Previews
  8. Burn CD with RAW Files

Pro Shots

  1. Open Pro Shots
  2. Import High Resolution Images
  3. Choose drive where images are stored G:
  4. Dbl. Click client folder
  5. Choose exported previews/ Dbl. click
  6. OK/Next/Add proof # (provided by lab)
  7. Browse – find client file again
  8. Dbl Click exported Previews
  9. Create folder
  10. PS/OK/OK/Next/Finish/Create Folder/PS/OK/OK/Next/Finish/YES/OK
  11. Choose title slide (#25 is a rose)
  12. Add Defaults (child, wedding, family, senior etc.)
  13. OK/Finish
  14. Our Pro Shots is set up to default to the light table. I dbl click on the first image and step through all those images to make a final decision for presentation.

  15. Final Decision for Presentation – Keep/Delete/crop/ sepia/ black & white/ add modified image
  16. Go back to light table and drag images into Presentation Group in order to show
  17. Dbl click on Presentation Group
  18. Dbl click on 1st image (should be title slide)
  19. Optional: Hit slide show to test
  20. Do Presentation for client
  21. Create Order (Close out of Pro Shots)
  22. Send to Ordering Dept (that’s me)

 

Convert to Tiff’s

  1. Stamp folder (#2)
  2. Capture One

    Develop Tiff

    Retouch

    Order

  3. Using Order form Open Capture One/ Open client file again/Collection/Image Tagging/Untag All
  4. Tag Images that were ordered from
  5. Collection/Image tagging/Select Tagged
  6. Insert Key (this converts the RAW images to tiff and opens automatically in Photoshop if you select that option)

 

TAKE A POTTY BREAK WHILE IMAGES CONVERT

 

Photoshop Work

  1. Do any adjustments (retouch/cropping. brightness/contrasts/color correction/sharpening etc.)
  2. Flatten layers
  3. Save as ______________ rename here if you want
  4. Close Photoshop

Images ready for lab

  1. Burn CD for lab or upload or print yourself.
  2. Burn final CD with ordered, retouched images for client file.
  3. Label CD: R tiffs
