Children

What’s your favorite?

I am asked all the time what my favorite subject to photograph is – now that is a hard one because honestly I love them all.  To be honest though, I would have to say that children hold a very dear place in my heart.

Child photography can be challenging, unpredictable and entertaining all in one breathe.  It is rare that I don’t get a chance to giggle right along with the children in their sessions.  And I love the looks on the mothers faces when they finally come back in to look at the images.  They are always amazed and sometimes so am I.

I know today that there is a trend to do candid, highly saturated (for color) and tilted camera angles in nearly every type of photography that is out there but when I create images like these, I know that this is where my heart is.

This session was created from our “Victorian Afternoon” Theme set and we provide everything in it except the child.  The cute little outfit, the bird and the cage, the kitten, and the seat. The children just come in ready to play and away we go.

I usually want one from every session on my own wall.  This type of image reminds me of the innocence of childhood.  Something that all too quickly passes into another phase of life.  Hold on to this moment mom and dad…just hold on!
