Friends are …
Friends are the tapestry of life. I have many people I am friendly with but only a handful I can truly call a friend. Soul mates from another time.
- You know those people who would literally give you the shirt off their back if you were in need.
- Those who know ALL your faults but love you any way.
- Those who really want to know your opinion because they value your thoughts.
- Those who can offer constructive criticism and you get it.
- Those who stand behind you even if you’re wrong and then in private tell you what went wrong.
- Those people who can tell you there’s something in your teeth – when no one else will
- Those people who remember you before you were what you are today and can gently remind you where you came from.
- Those who believe in you even when you begin to doubt yourself.
- Those who find no pleasure in keeping things to themselves but can’t wait to share them with you.
- Those who will share a chocolate brownie sundae and make sure that you get the last scrumptious bite.
- Those who won’t remind you that your pants are a little tight because you ate that last scrumptious bite:)
- Those who share all your burdens and tears and who will reach out to lift you up in spite of them.
- Those who understand that your differences in opinions are what attracted you to each other as friends to begin with.
- Those people who overlook the hurtful things you can say when worked up or angry about something because they know in your heart you would never do anything to hurt them.
- Those people that you take such delight in their successes with and don’t try to claim any of the joy for yourself even if they did learn everything they know from you because the very doing of a thing makes it theirs and you are proud of them for it.
- Those who can cry with you or lend a shoulder.
- Those who can laugh with you but NEVER at you.
- Those who understand that sometimes life gets in the way of visiting with them but who knows the always in your thoughts.
- Those who hold your hand for a while but hold your heart forever.
I am so blessed to have these wonderful people – strangely different from one another but ironically similar, to call friend – dear wonderful friend.
